Valmik Thapar
is one of the world's leading tiger experts. He has worked passionately to preserve
tiger habitats and pass laws to protect them. Thapar was responsible for creating
the Ranthambore Foundation a decade ago. The organization is named for a national
park in India where tigers are protected. He is an educator and writer, having
written numerous well-respected books on tigers and tiger conservation, including
Land of the Tiger : A Natural History of the Indian Subcontinent, Tiger : Habitats,
Life Cycles, Food Chains, Threats; and Secret Life of Tigers. He
has also created numerous film documentaries on tigers and tiger conservation.
