Neil Franklin
is the Field Manager for the Sumatran Tiger Project in Sumatra, Indonesia, where
he coordinates biological research and field conservation activities for the project.
Mr. Franklin has worked with the Sumatran Tiger Project since its inception in
1994 at Way Kambas National Park. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. at the University
of York in the United Kingdom. His research has focused on understanding the ecology
of the Sumatran tiger by using infra-red remote cameras and field census methods.
He has also been involved in developing anti-poaching teams and training project
staff and park guards in research methods. Prior to joining the Sumatran Tiger
Project, Mr. Franklin participated in a multi-year effort to study the critically
endangered Sumatran rhino in Kerinci Seblat National Park.
