John Goodrich was born in the Catskill, New York in 1965. He received an M.S. degree in Natural Resource Management from the University of Nevada, Reno, in 1990 and a Ph.D. in Zoology from the University of Wyoming in 1994. His specialties are in carnivore ecology and conservation. His interest in tiger conservation sparked from meeting Maurice Hornocker and Howard Quigley of the Hornocker Wildlife Institute, who started the Siberian Tiger ProjectTM on the Sikhote-Alin Biosphere Zapovednik, Terney, Russian Far East, in 1991. Dr. Goodrich has conducted research and conservation projects on Amur (Siberian) tigers, brown bears, Asiatic black bears, and Eurasian lynx in Russia since 1995. He lives and works in Terney, Russia as the Field Coordinator of the Siberian Tiger Project and is an Associate Conservationist with the Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS).
