Belinda Wright
has been at the forefront of efforts around the world to uncover and stop the
illegal trade in tiger parts. She is founder of the Wildlife Protection Society
of India. (WPSI) was formed in 1994 to provide the support and information required
to combat the escalating illegal wildlife trade. It is a registered non-profit
organization that has been endorsed by the Indian Government. Society Board Members
include India's premier wildlife investigative team together with other eminent
conservationists and some of India's leading businessmen. WPSI is actively involved
in all major tiger conservation issues in India and has been in the forefront
of media campaigns to highlight the importance of wildlife protection. The Society
is also constantly liaising with policy makers, conservation agencies and enforcement
authorities, particularly on issues concerning tiger poaching and the illegal
trade in tiger parts. Belinda Wright was also instrumental in the development
of the National Geographic documentary The Land of the Tiger and a co-author of
Through the tiger's eyes.
