While this elusive cat is one of the most high profile animals in Indonesia, until recently, surprisingly little was known about its behavior and distribution. All that was known was that their numbers appeared to be dwindling.

Our efforts to preserve the last of Indonesia's tigers are being executed by the remarkable team of individuals that is at the heart of The Sumatran Tiger Project. While working hand-in-hand with Indonesia's conservation authorities, with leading scientists and with numerous rural communities, their day-to-day life is an extraordinary adventure. It takes place in a spectacular jungle setting where the elusive Sumatran tiger faces extreme ecological threats. Dealing with constant dangers under very challenging conditions, they have devoted their lives to saving the Sumatran tigers. We invite you to support them.
